Six Weeks Already!

I can't believe it's been six weeks tomorrow since I walked out of my class,,, and they finally hired a teacher this week. It would be just over half of a summer break, or 2 Christmas breaks, but I just don't feel that it's been that long. I wanted to take at least 3 months to myself, but I've been pretty busy really so time is flying by. I'm working on the house, got all the carpet ripped out, furniture out, sink replaced, cabinets emptied and trips to the dump made. I'm paranoid about my money going down too fast, but mostly it's been paying off bills and necessary things. I admit I'm spent a bunch I shouldn't have, or at least I feel I shouldn't have, so I'm going to be putting the brakes on now to make it last. I'm working on those books, I'm happy with them, I've also made some sales on TeachersPayTeachers.com,, selling lesson plans. I don't want to look for a job for several more months, so it's up to me to be frugal. I helped my son while he was unemployed, I may just remind him of that lol,,, it's time to help mom!

I'm feeling more peaceful in some ways but stressed in others,, progress seems like setbacks because the house looks worse than ever,, but I know that will happen, until I'm through throwing things away, sending them to the thrift store, having a yard sale etc. Then I can rebuild my home and life! I know I'll also feel better when I figure out how to get my name out to more school districts for staff trainings.

November is NaNoWriMo,,,, National Novel Writing Month, I've always wanted to do it and complete it, but with school couldn't stay focused,, so this November I will do it!!!!

Oh yeah,,, I cut my hair Tuesday,,, from really long to super short!!

3 Weeks, and Tall Cotton!

My Grandpa used to say when he was feeling optimistic, and the future was looking bright and up, that he was walking in tall cotton,, I feel like I am walking in my tall cotton right now! It's been 3 weeks about since I left my classroom, and I miss it like crazy; but I've been able to be here for my dad, concentrate on my son, and I have my first consulting job  this Saturday at NMSU. I am the first presenter, 45 minutes, and more than I made in a day in the classroom. It's a pre-service for future teachers, and I feel like I can reach more students by helping educate their teachers in how to teach,,, I'm giving a presentation on Project Based Learning, and introducing them to Donorschoose.org so they can have all the neat and fun stuff they need for their classrooms. I am really looking forward to it!

Next weekend, Oct 10 - 13 I'll be up at the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium in Ruidoso, NM. I fully intend to try out some new writing on folks there. I'm really looking forward to the great music, the chuckwagons, and just relaxing and seeing friends I only see once a year.
